Whether you’re a new dad or the seasoned dad of grown children, you now about stress. It’s not the same stress that comes from deadlines at work, staring at unpaid bills, or even forgetting an anniversary. It’s “Dad Stress”. Dad stress comes along with the responsibility of being a parent, and it can be just as difficult to deal with as “Mom Stress”.
In today’s world of working more and relaxing less, there’s never been a more important time to learn to manage your stress. Some men choose to hide their stress, fearing that others will see them as weak. Actually, it’s the opposite. Men who acknowledge and manage their stress are seen as stronger, better partners, and more emotionally balanced.
What is dad stress?
Stress is a physical or emotional reaction to internal or external events. Dads have a lot of opportunities to experience both kinds. They experience external stress when they spend sleepless nights helping take care of the newborn (and their partner). They are stressed when the teen gets the car keys for the first time. They’re stressed when a child gets hurt.

The holiday season can be one of the most joyous times of the year. Festive decorations, gifting, renewed connections with friends and family, and a chance to reflect on the year behind and the year to come. All around you there are reminders of the season, the Christmas tree lots, travel, schedule changes, and a barrage of retail advertising.
There are also plenty of reasons to be stressed. Obligations, office parties, and keeping up with family traditions, spending money, and worrying about how it will all work out. Holiday stress is very real and can have a huge impact on how you experience and feel the holiday season. If you’re prone to stress, have had depression in the past, or are fighting clinical depression now, this can be a tough time if you don’t take control. In a study by the American Psychological Association, fully eighty percent of Americans anticipated stress during the holiday season. Another study suggests a whopping 69 percent attribute their stress to money related concerns.

Being a teen doesn’t prevent someone from experiencing stress. Teens need guidance to help reduce stress and massage can help.
It’s a fast-paced world. Teens are surrounded by an always-connected, competitive, socially charged whirlwind of challenges. Teens are anxious about a lot of things in their lives and, like adults, they need an outlet for stress. On top of that, they are growing, which means aches and pains and lots of hormonal craziness. If we don’t suggest some options to reduce these stressors, teens will likely experiment for themselves, sometimes with unexpected and undesirable consequences.
In a recent study by the Palo Alto Medical Foundation, teens cited school, homework, and academic pressures as the #1 causes of stress.
